2010 Sleepers

by Marc Faletti on 04/26/09

It’s not too early!  I don’t care what you say.  The 2010 draft is hours less than a year away, and we need to start thinking about who to watch on Saturdays.

If you want to know some names that aren’t necessarily high on everyone’s lists yet but might make a climb during their finals seasons, keep readin’.

QB Tony Pike, Cincinnati

He was playing hurt last year but still tallied 18 TDs against only 7 INTs.  His best 2 games were against South Florida and Pitt, the two toughest teams on his schedule. Pike’s one tall QB at 6’6”, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see him vault into the 1st day next year.

RB LeGarrette Blount, Oregon

He’s a bit tall for a RB but stacked at 238 pounds.  This former JUCO stud was suspended indefinitely from the Ducks in February, but we think he’ll be back with the team and might be the 2nd-most feared runner in the state behind OSU’s Jacquizz Rodgers.

DT Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska

Not really a well-kept secret in the draft community, but also not really a player many football fans have had the chance to focus on with Nebraska’s slide into mediocrity.  He’s already a beast at 6’4” 305, and he could maybe add a few more pounds.  His 5.5 sacks last year from the interior came despite the offense focusing on stopping him, and he’s already blocked kicks against Baylor and A&M the last 2 years.  Possible top 10 guy.
